Question by Michael and Beckey: Can we use a first time home buyers loan to consolidate other debts?
We would like to consolidate recent medical bills and a small student loan with a first time home buyers loan. We are preapproved for $ 15,000 more than what we are looking to buy but are told that we cannot get cash back.

purchased a mobile home 9 yrs ago with absolutely no mortgage - just paid cash; sold 12/2006 for cash and transferred title. Purchased real house in 02/2009. Does this disqualify me from the first time home buyers credit of $ 8k???
